Mom Sick ≠ Anna Sick = Boo!

I learned something, apparently mom being sick is not equal to one of us fur kids being sick. See, whenever mom thinks one of is is feeling not up to par, she gets all worried, poking and prodding all over us, and if needed, taking us to Dr. Vet ASAP.

Now, on the other hand, apparently mom's ears have been stopped up for like four months. FOUR months. Does she go to human Dr. Vet? Oh noooooo! She waits until she becomes completely infested then goes. Now I ask you, how is this fair? I swear, what we put up with when it comes to our peoples!

So yeah, mom has a SEVERE sinus infection (duh) and a touch of bronchitis. So she came home and dad and I assembled the Mom Sick Kit (MSK).

Apple J, drugs, a thermometer and a brownie...cause nothing says healing like chocolate. Mom spent most of the day konked out. Then last night she took the cough syrup which should make you sleepy, but instead mom's head was filled with thoughts and she got only like 1 hour sleep. So, I'm revising the MSK:

So now we need more brownies and less crazy, zombie inducing medicines. In going over the MSK, I also realized one thing....

See, when mom takes her temperature, she just puts this nice thing in her mouth. Why is it then that when I got to Dr. Vet I have to have this put in the "you know where"?!?!?! Hmmm....

Oh well, at least she's feeling better-ish. Just sleep deprived and zombie like. At least she's getting this out of her system before the big game on Saturday! Also, thanks to some info from some awesome doggie bloggers, we're going to change our hiking itenerary for vacay in 29 days!! Whoooo hooo!!!

  2. Hey Anna!
Wow, I'm so sorry your Mom has the sickies! Sending healing vibes to help her get better. I don't get why we can't all have better tasting medicine...brownie flavored cough syrup shouldn't be impossible! And how come they can't check our temp like they do on Star Trek...no body cavities involved?!? Anyway, hope she gets better soon and I'm sure she's glad to have you helping her out.

  6. Oh Anna, watch your mom and those drugs... They can make the hoomans rilly whacky and you know they has to has their wits about them to take good care of US! I is so sorry to BOL at the eggspense of your mom, but you did make me BOL. Sorry. Anyways, dussn't you think that Shawnee-induced boo boo on mom's skeery white leg gibs her a nice splash of color? As I has heard on HGTV, it makes her leg "pop" and gibs it a "focal point." So anyways, if'n you is rilly going to go see the wild ponies (WOO HOO! I want pics of you SMOOCHING them!) hop ofur to my mom's bloggie fur direkshuns coz she was kind of confuzzled there until she figgered out eggzaktly where to park the car and where to start the hike. It mite save your pawrents some of the same confuzzlements. http://gonehikin.blogspot.com/2010/06/grayson-highlands-state-park-and-mount.html Keep in your mind we went all the way to the summit of Mount Rogers but you dussn't need to go that far - the ponies be much closer.

  7. OMG!!! Yes!!! Hydrocodone is evil!!! I'm SURE that's what's in that orange bottle because just looking at it gives me the shivers. I was given that 5-6 years and assured that it would knock me out. Uh.. wrong. I MAYBE got one hour of sleep that night.

Believe it or not, I am just getting over bronchitis myself. Needless to say, I turned down the offer of the evil orange WOWSAH DOWSAH LETS STAY AWAKE ALL NIGHT LONG cough medicine. It's so funny though, because I have never heard of anyone else who reacted to it that way. When I told the doctor she just said "oh, really?" Like she didn't believe me. So I thought I was just weird. I'm glad to know that there are at least two of us weird ones. Ha! I like the brownie idea. I'm thinking maybe one reason it's taken me so long to get over my bronchitis this time is I forgot the brownies.

  8. Um... "years ago." Not "years." If I took that medicine for 5-6 years I'd be looking like that guy in the Machinist.

  9. Poor Mom, hope she is feeling a lot better soon. Our mom has that same reaction to cold meds and cough syrup - she just can't turn her brain off. We often wonder about that whole thermometer deal too - we would let them stick it in our mouth, we think:)

  10. We are so sorry. Mom has been all stopped up for a few months with a bad headache that she thinks is sinus but refuses to see the doctor yet again. Light hurts really bad too. We really hope your mom gets much better really soon because being sick just is bad!!! Lots of love and please get better! Debbie & Holly

  12. I am so sorry your mom is sick! I know how hard it is taking care of a sick human.

I'm so proud, we finally got Morgan into some fashionable collars! Something about Morgan becoming Mom's dog now that Dad is looking for his new SAR puppy. Anyway, imagine how proud I was that she wore pink and red to Chicago with me.
