Something Spooky...and Squirrely

It's close to Howl-o-ween and I know there are some spooky stuffs out there...like goblins and witches and monsters. And I'm okay with that...but today what I found on my morning patrol truly scared me.....

I was walking around, la la la, checking out my stick and my pit when I looked up and saw something so bloody scary I may have pooped a little...
Can you see what's up in my tree?? CAN YOU?!!
I'll zoom in....OMG it's a squirrel nest!! When the crap did that get there?? And why's it in MY TREE?!?! And just when I thought it couldn't get any worse...I looked over and saw....

A SECOND squirrel nest!!!!

Seriously! Why are these tree rats in MY TREE?!?! And they must be kamikazee zombie squirrels to be stupid enough to build in MY TREE! This, my friends, is terrifying! I don't know if they're that stupid or being brave and getting ready to attack....

I check out behind me to make sure they're not preparing a sneak attack...

Hmm...think I'll guard my tree today! I don't think I'll be able to nap...I may have to fortify my pit and hide my toys!

Hiking 5-Last Hike Price Lake

Happy Monday all! I hope you had a wonderful weekend! I did, I played with my cousin Rebel ALL WEEKEND and helped mom cheer on the Auburn Tigers (in my collar) who won again (yay!) then went up to Granny and Pawpaw's yesterday to take Rebel home. I'm pooped!

Today is the last of the photos from our trip. On the last day we went to Price Lake, a nice little 3 mile hike around the lake. We did some other trails that day too, but this is the last of the photos.

Isn't it pretty?
I got to get in the water a little bit this time! Yay! Dunc did too.

See this tree? It's growing on TOP of a rock! I didn't know trees could do that!

So dad and I went up there to check it out. I must be part goat, cause I made it up easy!
Dunc on the trial...his booty is a little wet from getting in the lake and sitting in it!
Mom and Mr. Wet Booty taking a rest on a rock.
It was such a great trip! This weekend, mom says her, me, Dad and Dunc are going to meet Aunt Temple and Uncle Matt and go hiking to either Mount Cheaha or Tanny-hill state park. Either way I've got my backpack ready! The leaves here are starting to change, which apparently gets lots of "oooohs" and "ahhhhhs" from the peoples.

It's also been nice and only in the 80s during the day and 40s at night, which means mom and dad don't have to run the AC and gives them more money to buy me noms!!! Score!!

Hiking 4- The Mountain Chicken and my AU Collar!

It's Friday! Whoo hoo! That means tomorrow is FOOTBALL day and I get to watch the Auburn Tigers play on the TV with mom (dad's working...boo!). Auburn is UNDEFEATED this year and #7 on the poll...which is a good thing and makes mom and dad very happy.

You know why they're winning? Cause I've begun wearing my lucky AU collar during every game! Check it!

A lady my Aunt Temple works with makes them and sells them! She's on the Facebook under Trucks Collars and she makes them in all kinds of collors and patterns. Isn't it tooo cute? I may need a pink flower one for other occasions!

On to Hiking story 4! This one is a little spooky, just in time for Howl-o-ween! Mom and dad decided to find a waterfall that was off the Blue Ridge Pkwy. We drove and drove and came through this little town...drove down a spooky road, saw some...umm...interesting peoples walking on the side of the road (I head mom use the words "inbreed and/or meth heads").
We got to the falls place and there was a car there...but we never saw these peoples...weird eh? Mom said it was like "The Hills has Eyes"

From here it just looked like a stream....dad was doubting mom's skills at choosing trails!

But we finally made it to the waterfall! It was quite pretty and there was NO ONE else there!

So mom and I struck a pose!

The trail was pretty, but it was kinda rough, but Dunc made it, so we all thought that was pretty cool hiking.

We made it back to the top of the falls...

Dad thought he heard a banjo...

This photo was taken after mom slipped and fell on her butt...the rocks were slick. I laughed but then I fell TOO! What the crap?? We were both okay, but mom had a bruised hiney.

Dad and Dunc had no problem with the slippery rocks....boys are stupid!

Okay, time to get back to civilization! What was weird as we were packing up, some car came in the parking lot...stopped, stared at us, then backed out. Mom and dad said let's go!!!

Then on the way back we saw the wiley Mountain Chicken. It was a poo head. It would not move out of the way of the car. Mom was afraid it was some sort of backwood chicken-highway robbery set up. I said to just run over it, throw it in the car and I'd eat it for dinner, but they said NO! Finally it moved off and then mom took a picture and when she snapped it, it back talked her! It went BAWK!!!! then started to come TOWARD the car! We was about to get attacked by a mountain chicken!!! We drove away fast!!!

Ah! Back at the safety of the cabin! We didn't go anywhere off the BRPkwy after that!!

Have a great weekend all! Rebel is down and we played ALL NIGHT last night! I'll get some picks of our good times. And I'll have one more Hiking Photo story, the story of the LAKE!

Hiking Pics 3- Top O' the World!

So heres some more hiking pics! Like I said yesterday's spooky themed photos--today's pics are themed "On Top o' the World!" cause we was!!

We went up the Beacon Heights trail (I thought it was Bacon Heights and was dissapointed when I was informed there was no bacon....) From there you can see everything!!

We were on this giant rock on the side of the mountain. No fences or gates or anything! Mom was a bit of a scaredy cat and wouldn't go anywhere near the edge, so we just sat and enjoyed the view!

Stupid radio tower! Messin up our view! Dunc wanted to go pee on it, but dad said it was too far.

It was soooo pretty!

Even the old man enjoyed the views!

Dad said it was "super cool" and we have to agree!

Dad got artsy with the camera...

Further down there was another big rock overlook...and this big sittin rock was on there. Mom wanted a photo of me and Dunc on it, but some ANNOYING peoples showed up with screaming kids and a dog off leash! What the crap? All dogs in the park must be on leash, and as much as I want to run free, I know I have to obey the rules...doggies like this can ruin the parks being dog friendly! Boo on you!

Further on down the road we found another overlook trail...Dunc went first to check it out.

Then we had a family photo made. It doesn't look like it, but we're WAAAY far up....

See? All those big trees look like little trees WAAAAY below us! We even had an eagle fly by!

Tomorrow will be our visit to the creepy Elk River Falls...and our encounter with the Mountain Chicken!

Also, my cousin Rebel is coming to stay with us tonight for a few days!! Whooo hoooo!!! AND I have to show you guys my new Auburn collar! Tomorrow might be a busy post!!

Hiking Pics--Cascades Waterfall

Look! I'm back! Within 24 hours not three months! Go me!!

Anyway, today I thought I'd share some pics of our hike to the Cascades Falls. Duncan stayed back at the cabin gettin his Zzzz's on. It was a foggy, cool day which made for much less peoples being out, so we basically had all the trails to ourselves!

We found this on the trail! Isn't it pretty! I didn't even eat it, we left it for other hikers to find!

There were some steepy stairs going down to the falls...maybe Duncan had the right idea staying home and getting his ZZzzz's on!

But we made it down...isn't it pretty? Once again, I was NOT allowed in the water...huff.

Mom and I down at the bottom of the falls.

Dad and I took a photo op on the cool pathway....I figured it was a perfect time for head tilt one.....

...and head tilt two!!

We found a trail off the main trail labeled MST (we now knows it's the Moutains to Sea Trail!) and we followed it. It was nice. No other peoples were anywhere! It was a good two miles round trip. (Here I am catching daddy taking a photo of mom's bum!!)

We found all these, FURNS! They was everywhere! They weren't that fuzzy, so I don't know why they was called furns!

Then the woods got CREEPY lookin! Big dead piney trees and fog! It was like out of a horror movie! But it was pretty....but pretty creepy too!

On the way back we found two beagles! They followed us for a while. Mom and Dad checked their tags and they were local, so I guess their peoples just let them run around. I shared some water with them though!

Later on, on another trail we found this scenic outlook...it wasn't very scenic because of all the rains and fog...but it kinda went along with the whole creepy theme of the day!

On the way back to the cabin mom and dad stopped in Boone to go to a cool olive oil store. I got to go in too, the lady was very nice, but then some oils or something got in my nose and I started having a sneezy fit! So dad took me out back to the car. When mom came out she started laughing, saying between the graffiti and the for rent sign we looked homeless! Now I've been called a wolf AND homeless in the same trip!!

Tomorrow we'll be on the top of the world!!
