Fall Friday?

I awoke this morning to something different...a cool breeze in the air and a sense of something mom and dad call "Fall".

I don't know what "Fall" is, this is my first fall and so far, I think I like it. It's nice and cool outside. I think it feels great, and mom and dad do too after they put on a "pull over". I'm also noticing some other cool fall things:

1. There are lots of leaves and stuff to roll around in. Dirty stuff. Rock on.
2. It's nice to snuggle up with mom and dad on the couch with blankets!
3. It's not so bloody hot!!

Now, there is a downside...apparently our nemisis, the squirrels, also enjoy "Fall". They are EVERYWHERE!! The other night on our walk (the Batman walk) we were walking on the school track and there, not five feet from us was a squirrel. Mom didn't see it, if it wasn't for me, I'm pretty sure he would have jumped her and scratched her eyes out like a rabid spidermonkey. But I scared him away. Mom would not let me chase it though, but he got the point.

They are also working really hard on burying their little landmines all over. Mom says they are burying nuts but that's just stupid and makes no sense. Why would you bury nuts?? I'm not falling for it.

This weekend dad is off Sat and Sunday! He and mom are going to paint the house and I, of course have to supervise, but I'm also keeping an eye out for squirrels. They are on the move my friends, do not become lazy, we must stay aware and vigilant for our peoples!!!

I am BATMAN!!

Last night was a nice cool night here. It was in the 60s and mom and I went for an evening walk. Everything was going normal, I was sniffin, mom was walkin. Life was good.

Then this little people saw me and he started screaming "Mom! MOM!"

Usually when this happens, its cause peoples are scared of me. I have no idea why. I wear a pink collar and leash for goodness sake. Anyway, the little dude's mom was talking to someone in a car and not paying attention.

Then the little dude was pointing at me saying "Mom! That dog has Batman ears!! BATMAN EARS!!!"

My mom started laughing...then little dude was like "Hey! Is that Batman's DOG?!?!"

Mom, with a pretty straight face said "Yes, she is and we're patrolling the neighborhood. Don't tell anybody!"

Little dude had a look of utter joy on his face and ran off yelling "Mom! MOM! Batman's dog lives in our neighborhood!!"

As mom walked off she was laughing pretty hard. I don't get it. What is this Batman this little people was talking about. I don't even know what a bat is. I don't see it, do you?

Transport Day,New Fashion, Dunc Update

Whew, this is going to be a busy blog!

Well, Robbie is at his new home in sunny Tampa Florida!! Mom and dad met the second leg of transport yesterday morning. Everything went great, well, except for the second transporter locking her keys in the car! Mom and dad and Robbie waited with her till the tow truck dude got there to unlock the car. Mom said if that's the worst thing that happened on the trip, then she could live with that, and it wasn't that bad, just funny more than anything.

We got a message from Robbie's new mom and I think Robbie hit paydirt! His new home even has a swimming pool! Like a big one, not a little crappy kiddie pool like mine!

"I did not introduce the other pups, it was a long night, and late--on the way home, my youngest son (22) had transmission problems, so I fed poor Robbie, gave him his water, put him in my master bedroom&bath with his NEW bed-with a nice soft blanket, if he should like that, kissed him good bye (30 min)..went to get Dru, came back home---and he was sleeping -all stretched-out -----NO,NO, NOT ON HIS NEW BED---on MY bed, WITH A PILLOW UNDER HIS HEAD !!!!!!!!!!!!!! (hey--didn't he have trouble jumping up???!!!!!) LOL !The rest of the night went peacefully, he slept like a log...first thing this morning, I let him out right away, he peed and pooped !! He's had his first small meal, ate every crumb..."

Here's some photos the second transporter took of Mr. Robbie! Mom loved doing transport so if anyone ever needs help through Alabama, let her know!

In other news, I HAD to get a new collar! Apparently ocean water causes something called "rust" which means my old collar got kinda funky...not funky fresh but funky nasty. So mom ordered me a new collar. I like it! It's blue and pink and stuff...and it's some sort of "French" design. Oooo la la! I like it, here's some pics!

In other news, Duncan had his last lazer therapy this morning. No lazer beams out of his eyes, but he is feeling much better...and without nasty drugs! This makes me happy. I really like Dunc, he's the coolest big bro in the world, and I'm glad he can play with me again. Okay okay, I'll get all sappy, I love him, he completes me, I'm on top of the world, you get the picture.

Mom kinda doubted the lazer thing at first, but now she's shocked at how well it's worked. Well, duh, lazers are freakin' cool! Sometimes I think mom doesn't think. They also said Dunc's bloodwork was sooooo good....like that of a 3 year old dog, Duncan's 11! So he can't use that old man excuse on me anymore when I want to play...the jig is up old man!

That's about it for right now. It's raining today so mom's left us inside so I don't play in my pit. Good call mom...I didn't forget the "stinky dog" challenge...

HouseGuest

So mom kinda lied, Robbie did come to our house! But just for the night. He's here so mom and dad can get an early start on his transport tomorrow.

First, mom had to take him to PetSmart to get groomed...she said he was NASTY way nastier than I could ever think of being (I find that hard to believe...and dare I say, a challenge??). And the peoples at Petsmart were so awesome and felt so bad for him the whole thing was on the house! Which mom means FREE! Maybe I should rethink my spazzy hatred of PetSmart? Hmm...

Robbie is super sweet...a little shy, but a sweetie. He did great at Petsmart and the groomer said he was fantastic except for the dryer (can you blame him??). Duncan and I met him and he seems cool. Poor guy is like Kate Moss skinny though, he's only 56lbs and should be close to 80!

Right now he's asleep in the spare room. Mom fed him some of our old kibble by hand and he nicely ate it all. He also drank like a horse. She's going to take him out in a bit to see if he has to potty. He has a long 12 hour drive tomorrow to his new home in Tampa. Mom and dad are taking him three hours, then other awesome people are taking him the other parts.

I think mom is doing pretty good for her first transport. She doesn't need any of those silly Star Trek transporter thingies, she's all up on it. She was a little stressed earlier, but she's fine, drinking a glass of red grape juice, getting ready for tomorrow. Here's a pic of Robbie she got in the care after he came from the groomers...before our camera started acting all freaky! Great timing camera! Geez!

Hitchhiker!

I'm kinda excited...mom may be doing her first rescue transport this weekend! At first I was like "huh?" and she said this poor GSD named Robbie needed a new home...at first I thought that meant he was coming to live with us, but mom said no, someone had given him a new home but they were in Florida and needed to get Robbie to them. Sooo mom is going to help get Robbie to the state line on Sunday!

Here's a snippet of Robbie's story from a humane society volunteer:

This young fellow was dropped off today (10/3/09). The guy brought him in and didn't leave any info, he just drove off. He appears to be young, maybe around a year. He is thin and hungry. He doesn't appear to have been dealt with a lot, he's very shy and backs away. He will come forward for food, I was putting a handful of kibble in the run with him at a time, but he's not real gentle about taking the food from your hand, he will graze you with his teeth. He's not trying to be mean, he doesn't know better. I stroked his head while he was eating and he didn't show aggression, just kept eating. They are not sure if they are going to consider him a stray and hold him for 5 days or if they are going to consider him an owner surrender. I don't know how he is with other dogs and don't know his heartworm status. I think he has good potential if someone has time to work with him and let him know someone cares about him. Every time I quit feeding him he'd come to the gate of the run and look at me as if to ask why I stopped.

Robbie's new owner said he was tested and isn't aggressive at all, just shy, because he had bad peoples (ggrrrrrrr!). Mom is kinda excited! She and dad were supposed to paint the house this weekend, but it's supposed to rain all weekend, so now she has time to help Robbie get to his new home alllllll the way in Tampa! Lots of peoples are working to get Robbie to Tampa. You know, some times you peoples are A-Okay in my book!

I might ride with mom to keep her company, or dad may go with her. it's about 3 hours to the state line so a 6 hour drive day. She'll take her camera and get picks of everything! Wish us luck!

Mom's Old

Today is mom's birthday! I awoke her with tons of puppy kisses. I asked dad how old she was, cause I was going to give a kiss for each year, but when he said she was 31, I tried my best, but man, I was give out by about 22.

So if mom is 31 how old is that in dog years? Like, a gazillion? Wow. She looks good for a gazillion years old!

Dad is working so it's up to me to entertain her on her birthday. I'm up to the task. The weather has been FAN-TASTIC here...70s during the day and almost 40s at night. So I've had a lot of excess energy and lots of zoomies.
So, as part of mom's birthday present, I'm listing all the reasons I love her:
1. She lets me sleep on the bed.
2. She buys me toys/bullysticks.
3. She prepares my food.
4. She laughs when I run around with her bra/underpants/socks in my mouth.
5. She gives awesome belly rubs!
6. If she thinks someone is messing with us, she gets as pissed as a mother bear and will rip your arms out and beat you with them....yeah, with your OWN arms!
7. She has cute nicknames for me.
8. She will drive all the way to Petco since I'm a spaz and won't go into Petsmart.
9. She has not covered up pit number 2 that I've dug.
10. She's an awesome mom!
I think tonight mom said we'll be chilling out together, she'll be preparing our raw meals and watching Project Runway and drinking red grape juice (that I'm not old enough for!)
Happy Birthday mom!
