Squirrel Conspiracy or Trap?

I saw something odd today and I'm trying to wrap my little puppy brain around it...mom crossed into the apex of squirrel territory...the roof.

Mom "said" it was to "pressure wash" the patio awning, but I'm not sure if I buy it. She was up there where the squirrels always go to taunt me and throw things while chattering mean things to me...like calling me "Dumbo" and "Poop butt". Now I'll give her this, they have been pressure washing the house like crazy in preparation to paint it, but ON THE ROOF?? Seriously mom??

I watched her with an eagle eye but she got to some areas I couldn't see. I tried to climb the ladder but daddy said NO! (daddy also got no pictures of my attempts...way to step up dad). So I've come to two conclusions:

1. Squirrels have been beaming secret messages into the window to my mom to make her go to them, the dark side. I'm not sure how this can happen since I'm always sleeping next to her and haven't noticed any Squirrel activity on our roof or near the windows...plus I think squirrels may be too stupid to have mastered the control of laser beams...

2. Maybe mom was up there actually setting up squirrel traps to help US in our fight against the squirrels in preparation for the giant mutant squirrel war that is coming....

Since I love mom, I'm going with option two. Or maybe they were just pressure washing? Nah, I'm thinking mom is on our side and will be a vital asset since she can go into their domain and set up traps. Go mom!!

Now we're chilling out inside getting ready for the Auburn game tonight. Auburn won last week and after some dude on the TV ran the ball back a looooong way for a "touch down" mom and dad were jumping around like crazy and screaming...so I jumped around too and howled with them. I love football!

Hunger Strike

I've made a decision...I no longer want kibble. I, Anna the GSD have gone on a hunger strike. The only thing I want now is my raw meals. This is my stand.

I don't know how it happened, but I've realized my raw meals of chiken and stuff I get at night are WAAAAAY better than my kibble crap I get in the morning. So this week, I have begun to pick at my kibble.

Mom even puts tasty stuff like yogurt and tripe and eggs in it, but I just ain't feelin it no more. I want the good stuff. So I'll sniff my kibble, and walk away. Making mom make me go eat breakfast. Then I'll eat some. Drop some on the ground. Scoot my bowl around. Walk off. Flip my bowl over. I think she's taken the hint.

While she was wanting to wait till the end of the month until the "freezer" got here allowing her to have plenty of space to make meals way ahead of time and to order in bulk, I've decided that this makes way too much sense and that I need to be a butt about it two weeks before said freezer got here. I'm about to turn one after all, I need big girl food!

So as of tomorrow, we're going full raw. Duncan is amazed at my ability to go on a hunger strike. He kinda likes it cause he tries to eat my leftover kibble. But mom catches him. He's on a strict diet cause he's a "big boy" and needs to lose weight. I think going on the all raw will help him achieve his goal!

Mom even talked to the butcher at Pub-licks who is going to special order me some beef heart and mom is going to see what other deals she can get. He'll even store it at the store for her until the freezer gets here.

Other than that, I was supposed to be a helper this weekend and help mom and dad get ready to paint the house, but it's supposed to rain all weekend. I guess we'll just have to stay inside and take lots of naps! Yay!

Tracking Take 2

We did some more tracking this weekend and THIS time, dad got some pics of me in action!

Check out my mighty sniffer (mom says excuse her appearance, they had been pressure washing that day and she didn't get gussied up to go out in the field!)

Me pullin mom along the track...

Using da sniffer!

Mom's fave photo...check out that focus! I'm a MACHINE!!!!

I found the article at the end! A sock! With hotdog on it! Sweet!

Mom also got me a harness this weekend...that way she's not pullin' on my neck while I'm sniffin. It's pink (of course) and we tried it out at home yesterday. It's pretty cool. And now when I see that I know that it's hotdog...I mean, trackin' time!

HOPEFULLY we'll get out to the fields to try out my harness today. My longest track this weekend was 50 yds. Mom is planning on doing 80 today. I better rest my sniffer!

Spa Day

You ever have those days where you feel kinda blah and you need to be rejuvinated? Well even puppies have those...and what makes a girl feel better than a spa day?
Now, I'm not into manis-and pedis. I don't want cucumbers on my eyes and facials just get my hair all sticky...what oh what can I do? Oh I know! A relaxing mud bath! It's good for your skin and stuff, and I need to keep shiney cause I love being shiney!

So as I eased into the calming mud spa, closed my eyes and I was whisked away to a land of no kitties or squirrels. There were tons of yummy chiken and bully sticks and all the toys were covered in squeakers. Ah, serenity now....
Then mom got home. (que sound of a scratching record)

Mom was not amused or relaxed about my spa day.
Okay okay, I admit it, my spa day was actually me playing in my giant pit (that I work so hard on digging) after a three hour rain shower. But other than that, it WAS really relaxing and calming!

The following bath in the tub with a mom repeatedly asking me "HOW did you get so DIRTY!!?!?!" was not calming.

Now my pit err spa has been condemed by a giant piece of tin over it that mom put out in a huff. I ask you, do these pictures not look like a high quality spa treatment???

My spa!

My butt was really dry, so that's where I focused my spa treatment

But I also got a facial!

Man I feel good!!!

All that high quality spa mud going down the drain! Geez mom!

After my bath mom was like you're so clean and shiney! Well DUH! I'm shiney because of my mud treatment!!! I think mom would be a lot less stressed if she went and rolled around in my mud pit...

Pregame!!

I stayed up last night and assisted mom in making an Anna BAND-ANNA. After much snooping I realized I am not going to be in a band...that a bandana is some scarf thing mom ties around my neck. It's cool I guess...not as cool as a band though! But mom is sooooo impressed with herself.

Anyway, it was mom's first solo sewing project...it has some mistakes but I think it's awesome! I wore it to Petco today and got lots of compliments and scared away some of those evil Bama fans! Mom found some cute pink fabrics so it looks like I'm going to have a wardrobe of band-annas!
Here's my modeling shoot...mom sewed the edging (polka dots) on and made the back of it all polka dots so it's reversabile!

Workin' it!

So we have a few hours till gametime, mom has ribs in the crock pot (OMG my puppy senses are tingling, they smell soooo good!) and we're waiting for dad to get home from work to watch the game and mom got me a football from Petco. I think we're all set! Hope you're having a great first day to a long Labor Day weekend!

War Eagle! Die Squirrels!

Ear it is!

My buddy Brownie has entered into a contest that I know something about...EARS!

Mom wonders if I'll ever actually grow into my ears, but she loves them anyway. They feel all soft and get wonky when I get sleepy. Soooo I decided to enter my satelite dish ears into the contest being held by Bentley and Lexus as the Munchkin Memoirs.

So I had to look at all my ear photos (which is like everyone of me since my ears HAVE to be with me!) and decided on this one, it's when I was a smaller pup and mom loves it!

And these are of me bigger...with even bigger ears!

Anyway, mom loves my ears. Mom has freakishly small ears...but I digress. So mom bought my fabric for my BAND-ANNA today! Yay! It's so Auburn-iffic I can't wait to see how it turns out. Of course, she's kinda still new to sewing so God only knows what it will look like, but at least it doesn't involve anything complicated like sleeves.

Have a great looooong weekend!

Join Me in My Fight....

As you've probably noticed, I don't like squirrels. You may find yourself asking "Anna, what do you have against squirrels? They're kinda cute!"

Silly peoples! That's their disguise! As many of my puppy (and even kitty) friends know, squirrels are planning world domination. I ask you now, my brothers and sisters, join me in preparation for the great mutant squirrel war as we must defend our peoples from these evil creatures!!

What signs are there that the war is coming? Here is what I've noticed on my recon missions in the back yard...
1. Squirrels are hiding landmines...they may look like acorns and nuts, but seriously, why the hell would you bury a nut? Why don't you eat it? Take note of where they place these landmines in your area, it may be the difference between life or death!

2. They are learning to take over our peoples power! Have you seen them on the powerlines? Do you know what they're doing? They're researching ways to cut off our peoples power...meaning we'll all be left in the dark as these little devils scramble about...some of them have even sacrificed themselves for early testing by getting fried into squirrel burgers. Have they no shame?? (And totally off topic, if you have the chance to find a fried squirrel carcass I HIGHLY suggest it...it's like the filet mignon of dead animal carcasses).

3. They practice their ninja moves by invading bird feeders. No matter how silly peoples think they make a squirrel proof bird feeder, they are just helping them train by honing in their ninja attack-break-in-robber skills. Let them have the stupid bird food, challenging them is just making them an even more scary opponent. Way to go stupid humans!

It seems no matter how many we take out, their armies keep growing. On our walk I noticed something horrible...there were like 20 squirrels under a giant tree planting land-mines. It looked like something out of Night of the Living Dead, but instead of zombies it was SQUIRREL ZOMBIES!! It even creeped mom out.

Be vigilant, be alert and protect your peoples. The war is coming my friends...and if we must join with the kitties to win this fight, that's a chance I'm willing to take.
